Telegram Video Downloader - TG DownloadHelper is a Chrome extension that helps users detect and download images, videos, and audio from Telegram Web pages that they can already access in their browser. This extension is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Telegram.
Single Purpose
The extension has one purpose: to detect downloadable media on Telegram Web and help the user start downloads requested by the user. The extension runs only on Telegram Web pages and processes media information locally in the browser.
Data the Extension Handles
When used on Telegram Web, the extension may process website content and personal communications data that is visible or available in the current browser session. This may include:
- image, video, and audio URLs;
- thumbnail or poster image URLs;
- the current Telegram Web page URL;
- message identifiers available in the page markup;
- media type and basic MIME type information; and
- download progress state for user-requested downloads.
The extension does not intentionally read or store Telegram login credentials, passwords, security codes, payment information, health information, precise location information, or the user's general browsing history.
How Data Is Used
The extension uses the data described above only to:
- detect images, videos, and audio on Telegram Web pages;
- show detected media in the extension popup;
- add download controls near detected media;
- copy a media URL when the user requests it;
- start downloads requested by the user; and
- show download progress, pause, resume, completion, or failure state.
Data Collection, Sale, and Sharing
The extension does not upload, sell, rent, transmit, or share personal data with the developer or any third party. The extension does not use advertising trackers, remote analytics, remote logging, or a backend server. Media information is processed locally in the user's browser, and media files are downloaded directly by the user's browser.
Local Storage
The extension may store limited local extension state in Chrome storage, such as installation time or lightweight operational state. This data remains on the user's device and is not sent to an external server by the extension.
Permissions
The extension requests only the permissions needed for its single purpose:
- activeTab: used to communicate with the active Telegram Web tab when the user opens the extension popup or starts an action.
- storage: used only for limited local extension state.
- https://web.telegram.org/*: used to run on Telegram Web pages, detect media, add download controls, and communicate with the extension popup.
- web accessible resource: injected.js: exposed only to Telegram Web pages so the packaged extension script can run in the page context when needed for media download handling.
Remote Code
The extension does not execute remote code. All JavaScript executed by the extension is included in the extension package. The extension does not load external JavaScript or WebAssembly files, does not use eval() or new Function(), and does not execute code fetched from remote servers.
Limited Use
The extension uses user data only for the user-facing features described in this policy and in the Chrome Web Store listing. The extension's use of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
User Control
Users can stop using the extension at any time by disabling or uninstalling it in Chrome. Users can also clear extension storage through Chrome's extension or site data controls. Downloaded files are controlled by the user's browser and operating system.
Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated if the extension's functionality or data handling changes. The updated version will be posted at the same public URL used for the Chrome Web Store listing.
